The Lithuanian State Historical Archives publishes information about digital copies of parish register books of the Roman Catholic Church in Lithuania, the originals of which are held by the Archives
We provide information about digital copies of parish register books (baptism, marriage, and death records) preserved in Roman Catholic parishes in Lithuania, for which the originals are held by the Lithuanian State Historical Archives.
In cooperation with the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference, a total of 7,875 such register books were digitized between 2018 and 2021. By the end of 2021, all of these digital copies had been uploaded to the Electronic Archives Information System (EAIS). Public access through EAIS has been granted to those records whose disclosure is not restricted by the Law on Archives and Documents, as well as by the special provisions of the 2016 Agreement between the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference.
More information about the EAIS Digital Reading Room project, whose funding made the digitization of all these register books possible, can be found here.
The text of the 2016 Agreement between the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference on the digitization of parish register books held in Roman Catholic parishes in Lithuania can be accessed here.
More detailed information, including links to the fonds inventories, can be found in the table available here.
